Sexcare Sunday: Because Self-Care Can Be a Little Magical
Share
If you've spent any time on social media over the last few years, you already know that Sunday isn't just Sunday anymore.
It's #SelfcareSunday.
The day for face masks, comfy clothes, bubble baths, ignoring your responsibilities for an hour, and doing something that makes you feel good.
And honestly? I'm here for it.
But pretty lady, can we talk about one part of self-care that often gets left off the list?
Your sexual wellness.
Because sexual health isn't just about Sex. It can be connected to how we feel about our bodies, our confidence, our relationships, and our overall well-being.
As gynecologist Dr. Jessica Shepherd shared during a discussion on the Today Show, sexual health can affect physical, emotional, and mental wellness too.
Yet somehow, more often than not it's the first thing we put on the back burner.
So, I think it's time we give #SelfcareSunday a little makeover.
Meet her magical older sister:
Sexcare Sunday
And before you start wondering what exactly you're supposed to do for Sexcare Sunday, let me make this easy.
There is no one-size-fits-all routine.
The goal is simply to spend some time getting to know your body, taking care of it, and exploring what helps you feel good.
No pressure.
No performance.
No pretending you don't have a body from the waist down.
Just you, taking care of all of you.
Here are a few ways to add a little Sexcare to your Sunday... or any day of the week.
Start Fresh with a pH-Balanced Cleanser
Before we get into the fun stuff, let's talk about keeping your intimate area feeling fresh.
A gentle cleanser like Fresh Intimate Wash can be a great addition to your routine. It's
pH-balanced to support natural intimate health, without harsh ingredients that can strip away your body's natural oils.
Think of it as a little TLC for your V.
Because sometimes self-care starts with simply feeling clean, comfortable, and confident in your own skin.
And honestly?
Your V deserves better than whatever random body wash is hanging out in the shower.
Invest in a Good Personal Moisturizer
Sexcare tip number one?
A good personal moisturizer can be your best friend.
Whether you're exploring with your hands, enjoying a toy, or having some partner time, a little extra moisture can make things more comfortable and enjoyable.
But here's something important to remember.
Personal moisturizers aren't only for when you're having Sex.
Stress, aging, hormonal changes, and certain medications can all affect your body's natural moisture. And if things aren't feeling the way they used to down in the love tunnel, that doesn't mean anything is wrong with you.
Sometimes your body just needs a little extra support.
And pretty lady, there is absolutely no shame in that game.
One of my faves is High on Love's Water-based with a little extra ingredient for pain/discomfort.
Slip Into Something Comfortable... or Something That Makes You Feel Amazing
Set the mood for yourself.
That might mean your favorite comfy pajamas.
It might mean lingerie.
And yes, you are absolutely allowed to wear lingerie even if nobody else is going to see it.
Light a candle. High on Love's Pink Candle perfect for relaxing and the wax hydrates, soothes and makes your skin feel great.
Put on some music.
Create a playlist that makes you feel confident, relaxed, or maybe just a little spicy.
The point isn't to look a certain way.
The point is to feel good in your own body.
Because self-care doesn't have to mean sweatpants and a face mask.
Sometimes self-care comes with lace.
Choose Your Pleasure
Woot!
You've set the mood.
You've got your personal moisturizer.
Now comes the fun question.
What sounds good to you?
Maybe it's exploring with your hands.
Maybe you're reaching for your favorite vibe.
Maybe you want to try something completely new.
This is where curiosity comes in.
There is no prize for knowing exactly what you like without ever experimenting. Learning your body takes time, and what feels good can change throughout different seasons of your life. Finding out if you like external (clitoral), internal (vaginal) or both (Dual Action) will help maximize your pleasure.
So give yourself permission to explore.
No pressure to perform.
No pressure to finish.
Just curiosity.
Because pleasure isn't something you have to earn.
And getting to know your body isn't selfish.
Take It to the Tub
A bubble bath is already a pretty solid form of self-care.
Add some candles, relaxing music, and a little uninterrupted time?
Now we're talking.
And if you want to add some extra magic, consider incorporating a water-friendly toy designed for bath or shower play like Velvet Wand.
Just make sure the toy is actually waterproof before sending it swimming.
Because a vibe taking an unexpected bath that it wasn't built for?
That's not the kind of splash we're going for.
Come Clean
Let's have a quick conversation about something that isn't necessarily sexy but is definitely important.
Clean your toys.
Yes, before.
Yes, after.
Yes, even when you're tired and would rather roll over and go to sleep. Totally get it that whipping out your toy cleaner after a buzzworthy session is the last thing on your mind.
Proper cleaning helps keep your toys in good condition and ready for their next adventure.
If cleaning them after every use sometimes gets forgotten, add checking and cleaning your toys to your regular Sexcare Sunday routine.
And once they're clean, store them properly in a storage bag or container designed to help protect them.
Your toys deserve a safe little home too, not to mention keep you safe from whatever may come in contact with your toy if not stored properly.
Check for Lumps and Bumps
Okay, this one isn't exactly the magical part of Sexcare Sunday.
But it matters.
Taking time to become familiar with your breasts and vulva can help you notice changes or abnormalities between regular medical appointments.
You know your body better than anyone.
And the more familiar you are with what's normal for you, the easier it may be to notice when something feels different.
If you're unsure how to perform a breast self-exam, the National Breast Cancer Foundation's guide is a helpful place to start.
And if you notice something unusual or have concerns, don't ignore it. Reach out to a qualified healthcare professional.
Make Sexcare Part of Your Self-Care Routine
Your sexual wellness deserves a spot on your self-care list right alongside skincare, movement, rest, and taking care of your mental health.
Because your body isn't divided into separate little departments.
Everything is connected.
Taking time to understand your body, care for it, and explore what helps you feel good can be an important part of overall wellness.
So this Sunday, pretty lady, maybe keep the face mask.
Keep the bubble bath.
Keep the comfy robe.
But don't forget about the rest of you.
Give yourself permission to be curious.
Give yourself permission to prioritize your pleasure.
And most importantly?
Give yourself permission to remember that taking care of your sexual wellness is still taking care of you.
Have a Magical Day,
PassionatelyMel
